Hello All!

Here is the information on the Cruise scheduled for January 7-11, 2027. We will be celebrating our 2026 Show Folks of America President, Sharie Davis in conjunction with 2026 Pacific Coast Showmen's President, Harry Mason's years. This will be in place of the usual annual festivities. Cost wise it will be much more cost effective than attending both festivities. There will be a lot more people able to afford to attend. This has already been secured with a deposit on the first bank of rooms, when they are all reserved they will open a second bank of rooms as long as they are still available. Please reserve soon as rooms will go fast. I'm told they will take payments so call today for more information on what is available.

And now a message from your 2025 Scholarship Chairwoman:

Showfolks of America Scholarships.

We were able to afford 12 scholarship applicants for $1,500.00 each to help with their continued education.  I believe our youth are our best investments and glad that Showfolks of America is able to be part of their college education.

1. Gabriela Nerhood, is finishing her Masters in chemical engineering.  She is the granddaughter of Reece & Christa Ellis who would be proud of her accomplishments.

 2. Jillian Nerhood, another granddaughter of Reece and Christa’s & Daughter and parents Melitta & David Nerhood, is in her Jr year at USC.  She’s been on the Dean's list since she’s been there & enjoys taking on a leadership role in her sorority.  She is excited to finish her double major in Entrepreneurship & Business next year!

3. Aubrey Berger, Paul Muller’s granddaughter is earning her BS in Therapeutic Recreation.  She would like to work as a Child Life Specialist or a Recreational Therapist.  4. Sydney Brajevich, daughter of Kris & Mick Brajevich, & granddaughter of Butch Butler, is continuing her pursuit of her Economic Degree at UCSB.  She has just returned from an Internship from KPMG in Orlando, Florida.

 5. Brittany Dempsey, Granddaughter of a proud Michaele Dempsey and daughter of Michelle Dempsey is finishing her college career with an Animal Science Degree.  Brittany wants to become an Animal Science teacher & with her taking the lead in various clubs & teams and getting on the Honor Roll we have no doubt that she will be an asset to many students in the coming years.

 6. Emma Barrera, Brandy Butler’s sister is enrolled at Mendocino College, and is pursuing a degree in Biology.  She’s interested in becoming an Obstetric Ultrasound Technician.

 7.  Mursedis Santos, the first applicant that has sent us a thank you card (😂), is continuing her education at Washington State University.  Her field of study is in Integrated Strategic Communications in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communications.  She and her parents work on Funtastic Shows and appreciate Showfolk's dedication to help students continue their education.

8. Autumn McDaniel is Sharie Davis’ niece and is studying to earn a degree in Social Work.  She’s been on the Honor Roll for her entire college career. She is also involved in her college newspaper & various clubs. She’s already been working as a dietary aide at Grace Surgical Hospital & wants to work as a Child Welfare Worker.

9, 10, & 11 are our Beloved Gail & Sam Johnston grandsons, with their parents being Spring & Clint Anderson.  They’re all enrolled at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. Logan, the eldest, started pursuing a Business Administration degree but now has changed to Business Marketing.  He likes that the degree is entertaining.  Logan also enjoys performing in a Bluegrass Band! Brock, one of Spring’s twins, is majoring in Media Technology.  He would like to obtain a Real Estate License and own his own Property Management business.  He, too, has an interest in music.  He started on piano and went on to violin & guitar.  He was a member of the California State Old-Time Fiddlers Association at the age of 12 & won 5th place in a state-wide competition! Dane Anderson, the other twin, would like to obtain a degree in Kinesiology.  Dane sees his education as a job and treats his further education as just that.  He also enjoys playing his various musical instruments and plays bass guitar in his family's bluegrass band.

I believe these deserving students should make us all proud! ◦

Thanks!

Scholarship Chairwoman

MARCH 19, 2025

Hello All,

I have to say that if you are not attending the meetings, you really should! I was lucky enough to be able to attend last night's meeting and it did my heart and soul good to see everyone that was in attendance!

There was a great turn out! Past President, Kris Brajevich did a great job of decorating. The St. Patty's day meeting turned out great, thanks to all who helped with decorations and clean up.

Lennie Davisson is probably sad that he was not there, since his name was drawn for the capsule drawing.

Dinner was a taco truck and the food was very good. I do believe everyone enjoyed it.

President, Jill Moyer announced that her
Banquet will be held on January 10, 2026 in Morgan Hill. I will keep everyone posted on the details as they become available.

2026 officers were announced as follows:

Chairman of the Board: Jill Moyer

President: Sharie Davis

1st vice: Miranda Nugent

2nd vice: Karla Kinsel

3rd vice: Greg Jewel

Treasurer: Marta Quinn

Recording secretary: Linda Davisson

Corresponding secretary: Sally McClain

Past President, Harry Mason and First vice, Sharie Davis announced that they have been in cahoots trying to plan another cruise for January 2027 as they will be Presidents at the same time next year. Sharie will be SFA President and Harry will be PCSA president. Any of you that attended the 2025 cruise that we did with PCSA will remember how much fun that cruise was.

Past President Harry Mason also made a suggestion that we combine our membership with PCSA. Nothing was voted on, he just threw the idea out there and everyone should think about it before we take that step. He suggested that we have one application and give the applicant the choice to check the box at the top for both clubs or only one or the other. If you have any thoughts on the subject, feel free to reach out to Harry or myself and I will forward to Harry.

Scholarship Chairwoman, Kris Brajevich read the list of scholarship applicants and volunteers for the scholarship committee were appointed .

A lot more went on and there were lots of nice prizes raffled off. I just tried to remember the highlights of the meeting.

Again I want to urge all members to try and attend the meetings. Just seeing everyone and enjoying getting to visit with your fellow show people is worth the trip.

The next meeting was tentatively set for October 7 in Fresno. The SFA meeting will be before the Show Party that will be held after the closing of the show on that night. That is notoriously a fun, fun party since it is close to Halloween and everyone dresses up.

There was an update on Cynthia Johnston's condition. Her brother, Ken assures us she is back to her normal happy self! She is feeling much better.

Jackie Larson informed us that Debby Larson is in a step down unit and is doing much much better. Keep her in your prayers.

I am sure there is a lot more I could tell you but I will close for now.

Remember I post everything I send out on the showfolksofamerica.com website and if anyone has anything to share, please don't hesitate to email me!

Hello Show Folks!

Happy New Year to all!

I have heard that a lot of fun was had by many of you last weekend! First off there was a big turn out in Colma at the Memorial on Friday January 10. The coffee and donuts were delicious and our Chaplain, Ron Quint did a beautiful job officiating the service.

The Banquet and Ball went off without incident. There was Prime Rib and Potatoes for dinner. There were baskets and a few other donations raffled off, raising a considerable amount of money. I heard the DJ was great and made the whole night a lot of fun! The big winner of the night was Past President, Harry Mason who won first and third prize totaling more than $5,000.00. (He bought all of his project tickets so he got seller as well as the prize) Then the second winner was First Vice-President, Sharie Davis who also bought all of her project tickets making her the seller and winner of more than $2,000!

The Installation of 2025 officers was officiated by Past President, Lance Moyer, on Sunday morning where a delicious brunch was had by all. Lance swore in the following:

President: Jill Moyer

First Vice-President: Sharie Davis

Second Vice-President: Miranda Nugent

Third Vice- President: Karla Kinsel

Treasurer- Marta Quinn

Recording Secretary-Linda Davisson

(Lance can swear me in again at the PCSA Banquet as Corresponding Secretary)

Our next meeting will be at the Lodi Fairgrounds on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Dinner at 6 pm (RSVP to Linda or myself will be appreciated for caterer count)

Now a little gossip I heard through the grapevine:

While driving in to Boise, Idaho, Felicia (Sis) Alexander was sideswiped by a big rig who then kept going.  She happened to be caravaning and some of her help took off and ran the guy down. Long story short it did several thousand dollars worth of damage to her motor home, taking off the driver's side mirror, but luckily she was able to keep control of her bus and nobody was injured.

Paul Farnum and Jennifer Simpson were on vacation and while driving down a grade a pick up pulling a housetrailer behind them lost his brakes and I'm not really clear on exactly what happened but I know that their car was totalled. Nobody was hurt, thank God, but  Paul and Jennifer then rented a car and continued on with their vacation. Just goes to show you that the show must go on!!

I heard a rumor that Debby Helm is plannng a trip to Octoberfest and then on to IAPPA Europe in Amsterdam.

How fun is that?

If anyone else has any gossip they want to share feel free to call me any time. I don't send out news because I am stuck in Yuma and get most of my news off of facebook!

JANUARY 6, 2024

Hello to all!

Hopefully this finds everyone in good spirits! The Holidays are over for another year, (thank goodness)! Now it's on to a new year, 2024, will be our best yet!

Just want to remind everyone that this weekend is the PCSA festive weekend. Today is the Annual Memorial honoring those who have gone before us and tomorrow is the Annual Banquet and Ball at the clubrooms in Upland. This year we are celebrating Drew Budimir's year as President of PCSA.

A note from our Show Folk's 2023 President, Tina Johnston. We are going to have a fun raffle at our banquet next weekend. At the Banquet next Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Wine & Roses in Lodi, Ca. you will purchase tickets for the raffle at the registration table during cocktail hour. When you enter the banquet room, the prizes will be laid out on a table with a container to drop your tickets into for the prize you hope to win. The more tickets you put in the jars of your choice, the better your chances of winning. I am told that there will be some awsome prizes, among them will be: A JERSEY SIGNED BY 49ER'S PLAYER BRANDON AIYUK AND A TIFFANY'S BRACELET, along with a lot of other great prizes! So be sure to bring your cash to buy lots of tickets (cards will not be accepted)!

Have fun and be safe!

November 25, 2022

Hello Showfolks!

Last weekend, Friday November 19, 2022, Saturday November 19,2022 and Sunday November 20, 2022 was our club”s big annual weekend!

The festivities began at the Showmen’s Rest at Olivet Cemetary in Colma, Daly City on Friday. Our annual memorial honoring and remembering those who have gone before us was officiated by our Chaplain, Ron Quint. Ron did a great job and he and his wife, Past President, Tami Quint brought donuts and coffee for all who attended. Thank you for your thoughtfullness, it was greatly appreciated!

Saturday night was the Annual Banquet and Ball. President Matt Payne and his wife, Vanessa did a wonderful job! Decorations were beautiful and the food was great! I’m told the venue was gorgeous and although there was snow on the ground, the roads were clear and everyone had a great time!

The winner of the $5,000 vacation to the destination of choice was Kelley Butler! She also won the beautiful Corn Hole game that was made by Mike Davisson.

Project winner tickets were:

First prize, Harry Mason sold by Harry Mason

Second prize was Jennifer Flores sold by Incoming President, Tina Johnston

Third prize was Eva Mason sold by Harry Mason

Sunday morning was the Installation of 2023 officers. I’m told that John MacCallum did an amazing job of swearing in our officers.

Tina Johnston is our New President

Michael Dempsey is First Vice

Jill Moyer is Second Vice

Shari Davis is Third Vice

Marta Quinn is Treasurer

Linda Davisson is Recording Secretary

Sally McClain is Corresponding Secretary

Congratulations to all the ladies!

Our next meeting will be a Christmas theme. It will be held at the Lodi
Fairgrounds on Monday December 19. Dinner at 6 and Meeting at 7

Please bring a dessert, a wrapped gift marked for a girl or boy for under the tree. Also there will be a gift exchange. Bring a gift if you would like to receive a gift.

Happy Holidays to all!
